Arsenal prepare shock double swoop for ANOTHER Manchester City pair: report – FourFourTwo
Arsenal are once again targeting two Manchester City players this transfer window, after their signing of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko proved so successful last season.
Mikel Arteta worked under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City between 2016 and 2019 before taking over the Emirates Stadium, and the Spaniard is looking to further strengthen his Arsenal squad ahead of the 2023-24 season.
The Gunners have already finalized the signing of Kai Havertz this summer, with Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber to be announced in the coming days. However, Arteta is not content with resting on his laurels and is about to return to Manchester City and demand two more players.
According to the Catalan outlet El NationalArsenal are looking to sign Kyle Walker and Julian Alvarez, in a deal that would be worth a total of €76 million.
Walker appears to be a viable option given that the 33-year-old has only one year left on his current contract and reports have repeatedly linked him with a move to Bayern Munich. He spent up to eight years at Tottenham Hotspur, potentially complicating a deal on his part.
The publication suggests that Walker would cost €16 million, while Transfermarkt estimates him at €13 million.
While Walker fought his way back into Manchester City’s first team ahead of the run-up to their historic treble, his failure to start the Champions League final has reportedly left him open to an exit from the Etihad.
Alvarez, meanwhile, has somewhat limited minutes for City as Erling Haaland started for him, and El National reports that the club would be willing to listen to offers for him. Arsenal are valued at €80 million by Guardiola and are looking to close a deal closer to €60 million, the report suggests.
Argentina’s number 9 in their World Cup victory, Alvarez scored 16 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions in his debut season in England, although much of his minutes came from the bench.
