  • Gunners dealt a HUGE blow in pursuit of Rice

Manchester City have submitted a formal offer of £90m for Declan Rice, according to The Athletic.

The Treble winners are understood to have proposed a deal for an initial £80 million with £10 million in add-ons.

Arsenal’s second offer of £75m + £15m in add-ons for the England star was turned down by the Hammers last week.

The extra £5m upfront instead of add-ons could tempt West Ham to sell City.

  • Coup by Moisés Caicedo

Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Brighton star Moisés Caicedo, who has also been linked to Arsenal.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, personal terms with Caicedo are closed.

However, the Blues still need to work out a fee with the Seagulls, who are notoriously difficult negotiators.

Brighton, who received immense compensation when Graham Potter left for Chelsea last year, turned down a £75m offer from the Gunners in January for Caicedo.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are determined to expect between £80m and £100m for the midfielder.

An initial £60m offer from Chelsea was reported to have been rejected in early June.

  • second wood movement

Arsenal have launched an improved offer of £41.5m for Ajax star Jurrien Timber.

According to The Mail, the Gunners have made a new offer for Timber, who has become a prime target for manager Mikel Arteta.

The North Londoners are clear leaders in taking over the centre-back, despite Ajax having already turned down a £30m offer for them.

The Dutch international is believed to have agreed personal terms with Arteta’s team on a long-term contract worth £120,000 a week.

  • Arteta talks about moving to Spain

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is not ruling out a possible move to Spain one day.

    Spain is my country.

I’ve been away for many years and at some point it could be an option to return to LaLiga and have other experiences.

    But for now…

  • Xav some of that

Arsenal are interested in hijacking the Paris Saint-Germain move for PSV Eindhoven star Xavi Simons.

PSV have a set release clause of £5.1m but Simons is not interested in a return to PSG with the Gunners set to attack, according to GFFN.

However, the same report adds that the playmaker would like guaranteed playing time at his new club, with Eindhoven set to offer him the team captaincy.

For Arsenal to be in the running for his signature, they would have to match PSG’s buyback clause for the Dutch international.

  • Pennant almost signed for Real

Former Arsenal ace Jermaine Pennant has revealed that he came close to joining Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2009.

Pennant told talkSPORT: “I was going to sign a pre-contract with Real Madrid in January. I think the manager at the time was the former Spurs manager, Juande Ramos.

“My agent got the call saying that Real Madrid need a right midfielder, and I immediately said ‘what? Really?’ I was like ‘I’m free, I’ll do that’, even if it meant I had to sit on the bench.

“That was all good, they talked to the president, but it went over Ramos’s head, he had no idea. Once he got to completion, he was upset that they had gone over him and not told him, obviously making the deal behind his back.

“So, he said he wasn’t happy about this and he didn’t want it sanctioned, and then it didn’t materialise.”
