Tamil Nadu changes law to punish cops for harassing LGBTQ people

The amendment to the code of conduct for subordinate police officers of Tamil Nadu was published in the Government Gazette on Wednesday. It came months after the Madras Supreme Court asked the state administration to raise police awareness on LGBTQIA issues.

“No police officer shall indulge in any form of harassment from any person belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community and the individuals who work for the good of said community,” the government order said.

Andhra college: Hijab-clad students were allowed in after collector entered

The girls, senior Bachelor of Science (BSc) students at Andhra Loyola College, an autonomous institution founded in 1953, told reporters that they were stopped by security personnel at the entrance on Thursday and questioned them about the burqa and hijab.
