A lone gunman injured several people Monday in a lecture hall in the southwestern German city of Heidelberg, police said. Police said in a brief statement that the assailant was dead, but did not provide details on how that happened. They had previously asked people on Twitter to avoid the Neuenheimer Feld area of Heidelberg, where the city’s university is located. Police did not say how many people were injured or how seriously.
