Manchester City (89 points – 1st place) opted for a largely rotated squad, with seven non-regular starters taking credit on Sunday, with one eye on next Saturday’s FA Cup final vs Manchester United – the second of three trophies on offer for Pep Guardiola’s squad ends the season.

It was a long wait for the only goal of the game, but Brentford fans got to celebrate again as they capped off a brilliant second season in the top flight. Bryan Mbeumo returned the ball to Ethan Pinnock, who entered the penalty area completely unmarked. Pinnock led a low blow out of Ederson’s reach for the No. 15 win in the Bees’ season.

Because Aston Villa and Tottenham both win above them, Brentford narrowly misses out on the Europa Conference League.

Main storylines and players in shape to watch

Bryan Mbeumo scored twice and set up Brentford’s other goal in the win against the Spurs, and he’s really making a splash in Toney’s absence. Now that Wissa and Schade are also making an offensive impression, Thomas Frank’s team can cope with Toney’s suspension until January 2024.

Manchester City again heavily rotated their line-up against Brighton and the likes of Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Stefan Ortega all impressed. Expect to see Kalvin Phillips, Ruben Dias and Julian Alvarez back in the lineup.
