Burnley are on the verge of finalizing a £19 million transfer for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.
A standout in the run-up to the semi-finals of the European Under-21 Championship, Trafford has attracted the attention of numerous clubs this summer.
The Clarets, whose current No. 1 is former City stopper Aro Muric, are working on a deal that starts at £15 million and could rise by a further £4 million.
Mail Sport understands that a 20 per cent sell-on clause is likely to be added to the transfer if the two clubs reach a formal agreement.
Trafford kept four straight clean sheets for the Under 21s at Georgia and was eyed by Leicester City.
However, Vincent Kompany has stolen a league lead as he plans Burnley’s return to the Premier League.
Trafford was loaned out to League One Bolton Wanderers last season as they made the play-offs and recently claimed he feels ready to play on the biggest stage.
