All police stations under the Avadi Commissionerate in Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu will be run by an all-women corps on Tuesday, a senior official said. Avadi Police Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore said the Commissioner will celebrate International Women’s Day through the symbolic delegation of power to female officers.
“For the first time in India, all police stations in a Commissionerate will be run by female officers. This initiative aims to recognize, honour, celebrate and nurture the role of women in our uniformed services,” said Rathore.

A Madurai court on Tuesday sentenced Yuvaraj, a leader of caste outfits in western Tamil Nadu, and his aide Arun to life imprisonment on three counts for the 2015 murder of Dalit youth V Gokulraj, five of the ten convicted. each two life terms.
