PSG have not received an offer from Liverpool for Kylian Mbappe and suspect he has an agreement with Real Madrid.
Sensational reports from Spain earlier this week claimed that the Reds had made a massive bid for the French superstar. The claims were not exactly credible, but a player like Mbappé always creates excitement.
As a result, journalist Fabrizio Romano felt the need to clear up the rumours. Romano took to his YouTube channel last night to clarify the current situation around Mbappé.
“After many questions from you about Liverpool, also Arsenal and some English clubs. What I can say is that people around Paris Saint Germain feel that Kylian Mbappé has a deal ready with Real Madrid for 2024,” said the journalist. “The feeling is very strong.”
“From PSG, they are convinced that it is not Liverpool or an English club, but Real Madrid. For PSG, at least, they guarantee that the moment they have not received any offers from English clubs, they have nothing in their hands from these clubs.
“They feel the agreement is with Real Madrid.”
No bid from Liverpool’s Mbappé
Mbappé’s arrival at Real Madrid has long felt like an inevitability. Just as it was with the Jude Bellingham saga, it will be a relief when it’s all over.
That will at least put an end to suggestions that Liverpool would come up with a bid of more than £170 million and bring him to Anfield.
There was a time when it looked like that might actually be a possibility. But that time is over. Mbappé himself has reportedly even decided that he now prefers Arsenal to The Reds. Arsenal.
In reality he might as well prefer Tranmere Rovers to Liverpool, there’s only one place he’ll end up anyway.
Once the 24-year-old has had enough of Real Madrid, who’s to say where he will end up. Maybe he’ll fancy a foray into the Premier League in his late twenties.
If that time ever comes, hopefully Liverpool will be in talks again. Actually in it. For all the circus around him, Mbappé is clearly the world-class player. Virgil van Dijk said he was back in March [Sky Sports News]. He would clearly be brilliant at Anfield.
For now, though, we can all see how this goes. PSG is happily danced by this World Cup winner, he is on his way to La Liga next year. For nothing.
