Dominik Szoboszlai arrives in Liverpool for the final step of the transfer deal – Liverpool Echo

Dominik Szoboszlai has arrived in Liverpool to complete medical tests and complete his transfer from RB Leipzig.

The midfielder will follow Alexis Mac Allister through the door at Anfield to become the second summer signing in Jurgen Klopp’s rebuilding squad.

As ECHO confirmed last night, the Reds have informed Leipzig that they are ready to trigger Szoboszlai’s £60 million release clause. Earlier today it emerged that he had been given permission to travel to the UK for his medical examination.

And eagle-eyed aircraft trackers seemed to pinpoint the exact flight he was on – a private Omni Aviation jet flying from Budapest to Liverpool this afternoon.

In footage posted to Twitter just after 1pm by @DaveOCKOP (see below), further evidence seemed to show Szoboszlai stepped off a plane and into the trademark silver van that has become a common sight for Liverpool recruits during transfer windows.

It remains to be seen how quickly Szoboszlai can be assessed by the club’s staff before any possible announcement is made.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue and the Hungarian star is likely to sign a five-year contract after announcing that he is desperate to work under Jürgen Klopp.

Newcastle United were also interested in the attacking midfielder, 22, but after Liverpool’s meeting with the player’s EM Sports agency earlier this week, it became clear how eager Szoboszlai was to play for Klopp.

ECHO understands that a good relationship between Liverpool and Leipzig helped during the short negotiation process – with talks initially coming when the two clubs turned down Fabio Carvalho’s move to Germany for a season, which was confirmed on Friday afternoon.
