Erling Haaland named Manchester City player of the month
In what is arguably the most surprising news of the week, Haaland has comfortably taken home the first of many Player of the Month awards for his new club.
The Norwegian beat Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva to the prize, both of whom had a fantastic start to the season.
However, neither midfielder has had an impact comparable to Haaland’s since coming over from Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
The striker has faced some criticism after his performance in City’s 3-1 loss in the Community Shield to Liverpool, but he has silenced all critics following his blistering start to the Premier League season.
In the first game of the season it became clear that Haaland would not need time to adjust to the English game and scored two goals in his league debut against West Ham.
The attacker would then provide an assist in City’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth and another goal in their 3-3 draw with Newcastle before scoring consecutive hat-tricks in wins against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest to complete an incredible first month in to shut down England.
Haaland has already broken several records thanks to his goals this season – the Norwegian now scored the highest number of goals in August for any Premier League player and also became the fastest player to score two hat-tricks in the competition, breaking the existing one. record with a substantial 14 games.

And City’s number nine shows no signs of slowing down. The striker has already scored three goals in two games in September, scoring once in his side’s draw against Aston Villa, before scoring two in their 4-0 attack on Sevilla in the Champions League.
The Cityzens hope their talisman continues his good goal-scoring form in their game against unbeaten Tottenham next Saturday.
