As Manchester City enter their last six scheduled games of the current season – with a second consecutive Champions League final also still on the agenda – details about the upcoming season are beginning to emerge.
This week, Manchester City announced their plans for the season ahead of the 2022/2023 campaign, with a tour of the United States now on the agenda, with a confirmed opponent the club has announced in an official statement.
Manchester City have revealed that there will be two games in the lead up to the new season in the US, with a clash against Club América of the Mexican Liga BBVA MX on Wednesday, July 20 (7:30pm CT) at NRG Stadium. †
The second such fixture has yet to be unveiled.
With one game already scheduled, the kit that Manchester City could unveil against their Mexican opponents at the end of July has also been leaked on social media this week, featuring the first image of Phil Foden.

The leaked photo comes via a user on Manchester City’s fan forum site, Blue Moon Forum, where Phil Foden appears to be donning the club’s 2022/2023 home shirt.
At the end of October last year, it was reported by Footy Headlines that Manchester City’s new shirt would combine the club’s traditional sky blue color with maroon – a reference to the club’s historic use of the palette.
Should the above image prove true, the Manchester City home shirt for 2022/2023 would complement Puma’s previous editions at the club as it would be bold and outside the norm in the game.
While the use of a central club crest has been common in the past, it is rarely used in modern kits, although the return of the style could place the new shirt firmly among fan favorites.
