Liverpool transfer news roundup: Reds agree fee to sign Portuguese striker, Ismaila Sarr breaks her silence on transfer rumors & more

Liverpool face perhaps their biggest test of the Premier League season when they take on Manchester City at the Etihad this Sunday. The two teams are separated by just one point at the top of the table with City leading the pack. So Sunday’s clash could be a key momentum change.

The Reds will enter the clash after a 3-1 victory in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Benfica.

Today’s roundup features some transfer talk on Ismaila Sarr, Fabio Carvalho and more. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the latest Reds stories through April 8, 2022.

Sarr breaks his silence on rumors

Ismaila Sarr has been linked with a number of clubs, including the Reds (via TeamTalk). The Watford attacker decided to keep things a secret when asked about his future.

He said on Wiwsport:

“What I can say is that I am in Watford; I still have years to go. Two years I think We continue with the work, and if the opportunity arises, we’ll see. So far, I only have rumours.”

With Watford in a precarious position in the league, it remains to be seen what awaits Sarr. If relegated, the Hornets could have a hard time retaining Sarr’s services.

According to Milanlive.it, AC Milan are also interested in signing the Senegalese striker, who has scored five league goals so far this season.

Pep Guardiola says the rivalry with Liverpool is the ‘greatest’ of his career

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will prepare his side for another potentially season-defining clash against the Merseysiders on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola: “When I look back on my period here at Man City, when I was retired, watching and playing golf, I will think that Liverpool were the biggest rival.” #awlive [@City_Xtra]

Before the match, Guardiola has revealed that he will look back on the rivalry with the Reds as the greatest after he retires as manager.

He said (via The Guardian):

“When I retire and watch and play golf, I will remember that the biggest rivalry was with Liverpool. When you achieve 100 points and 98 points [in two of City’s title-winning seasons] you need someone to push from behind to be so close. You have to take another step.”

Both teams have been involved in intense title clashes in recent seasons. City have three of the last four league titles. Liverpool hopes to add to the title it won in the 2019-20 season.

Quota agreed for Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho: Reports

Liverpool have agreed a fee with Fulham to sign teenage talent Fabio Carvalho in the summer according to The Athletic.

In doing so, the Reds have ensured that the matter does not go to court. He did so with a previous transfer between the two clubs involving Harvey Elliot in 2019.

The Merseyside side will pay Fulham a fee of £5m plus add-ons which could see Fulham earn a further £2.7m. The Reds also agreed to a 20 percent selling fee.

Carvalho has already agreed personal terms with the Reds, and was close to signing for Liverpool in January before the deadline ran out.
