Liverpool transfer round-up: PSG chief lets Kylian Mbappé hint after £170m ‘offer’ – The Mirror

Liverpool fans were stunned on Thursday when rumors circulated in the Spanish press about a €200 million (£170 million) bid for Kylian Mbappé.

The 24-year-old France international is one of the best footballers in the world after winning six Ligue 1 titles and scoring a hat-trick in last year’s World Cup final against Argentina. It is unlikely that any team in the Premier League would say no to such a talent.

Mbappé has only one year left on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and it is unclear whether he will extend it. The odds of Liverpool making such a colossal bid after splashing the money on Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are slim… but not impossible.

Here are the latest Merseyside transfer updates and rumours…

The hint from PSG’s Mbappé

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi wants Mbappe to sign a new contract, but will sell him if he refuses to do so. With Mbappé entering the final year of his contract, the Ligue 1 champions have only two chances to sell the superstar – now or in January.

It’s unlikely that such a big move will come mid-season, meaning it’s now or never for PSG to make money. And if Mbappé leaves the Parc des Princes, only a handful of clubs can sign him. Liverpool is one of them.

Real Madrid were the favorites for Mbappé’s signature, but they have ruled out a move. Manchester United is another option for the 2018 World Cup winner, but that transfer is conditional on their ownership story being resolved before September.

When asked about Mbappe’s future, Al-Khelaifi said: “Our position is very clear. If Kylian Mbappe wants to stay – we want him to stay – he has to sign a new contract. We can’t have the best player in the world right now let it play.” leave for free. That is not possible.”

Chiesa’s agent in England

According to Corriere dello Sport, the agent of Italian international Federico Chiesa has traveled to England for transfer talks. According to Paisley Gates, Chiesa is waiting for the green light to transfer from Serie A club Juventus for £34 million.

Liverpool would be interested in the 25-year-old, but so are Chelsea and Newcastle. Chiesa reportedly wants a salary of €5 million a year (about £82,000 a week). The winger has scored 38 goals and provided 39 assists in 202 Serie A appearances.

Schuur’s interest had been rekindled

Torino expects Liverpool to make another offer for their defender Perr Schuurs, according to Tuttosport. According to Sport Witness, Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign a new central defender after signing two midfielders: Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.

It is believed that Liverpool have already rejected a €30 million (£25.6 million) bid for Schuurs by Torino, who are waiting for €40 million (£34.2 million). The Serie A club will listen to offers from the former Dutch youth international, who still has three years of contract.

Schuurs has made 33 appearances for Torino since his transfer from Ajax for €9.4 million in August. The Dutchman previously played for Fortuna Sittard and Ajax and won six prizes with the latter club, including three Eredivisie titles.
