Liverpool transfer round-up: Romeo Lavia position clarified as darn complicated by Arsenal – The Mirror
Liverpool’s summer transfer activity got off to a strong start with the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister, but more is expected to happen in the coming weeks as part of an extensive rebuilding of the playing team.
The midfield is expected to see more reinforcements, with young talent expected to be targeted by Jürgen Klopp and newly arrived sporting director, Jorg Schmadtke. There are other parts of the squad that will also be targeted for reinforcement, with a long-term successor to Mo Salah also in sight.
The Reds have a limited budget to work with compared to some of their rivals, but are still expected to compete given their success under Klopp in recent years. However, the lack of Champions League football means that lesser-known names could be targeted for a transfer as the Reds enter a transition period.
Here’s a rundown of the latest transfer news from Anfield:
Lavia contact clarified
Liverpool have joined the race to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, with the 19-year-old also having interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.
Lavia is attracting attention from across the continent, but with Arsenal vying for Declan Rice, Chelsea looking to sign Moises Caicedo and Manchester City currently uninterested in re-signing the player, the door is ajar. ECHO reports that the Belgian is on Jurgen Klopp’s shortlist, although reports that contact has been made are likely premature.
At the moment nothing more than due diligence has been done, although the process could speed up if the club decides he is the main target in the position.
Arda Guler last

According to Football Insider (via Football365), the talented 18-year-old, whose talents have been compared to Lionel Messi, Arsenal have become the ‘most interested English club in the talented left-footed winger’. The Fenerbahce man, who can also play in midfield, could prove to be a long-term successor to Salah on the Liverpool right wing due to his mesmerizing attacking talents.
The defender of the wolves watched
Liverpool could make a late bid to sign Wolves defender Nathan Collins, with Jurgen Klopp believed to be an admirer of the Ireland international, who looked set to move to Brentford.

According to The Irish Sun via BirminghamLive, the 22-year-old is on the verge of joining the Bees for nearly £25 million. However, Klopp could make a late bid due to his admiration for the defender.
The defender only signed for Midlands last summer, but after a promising start at Molineux, he fell out of favor under Julen Lopetegui. The Republic of Ireland international – who has shone for his country – has suggested he wants to stay and fight for his place at Wolves, but with FFP issues looming he could be sold for a small profit.
