Neymar sees Messi ‘improving’ at PSG after ‘difficult’ debut season with eleven goals
Neymar has claimed Lionel Messi is now at home in Paris after struggling to keep up his immense standards in his first season with PSG.
- He scored just 11 goals in 33 games last season
- Has already scored four out of eight this season
- Neymar expects Messi to rediscover best form
WHAT HAPPENED? The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner did not have the debut season with PSG he expected. In 26 Ligue 1 games, Messi has only managed to score six goals, a total he is already halfway through this season.
WHAT NEYMAR SAID: “I have known Leo for a long time. I was able to help him,” said Brazilian star Neymar DAZN. “It is difficult to make such a change because he was with Barcelona for many years and now everything has changed for him and his family.
“It’s hard, but I think he’s getting better now and he feels at home. I want him to have fun and I want us to have fun together. We know we have a lot of things and difficulties ahead of us, but I’m sure we’ll get through it.”
THE LARGER PICTURE: Alongside Messi, Neymar is experiencing a blistering start to the 2022-23 season. He has scored nine goals in his eight appearances in all competitions and is looking forward to an extraordinary season given Brazil’s chances at the World Cup in Qatar.

WHAT NEXT FOR MESSI: Like Neymar, Messi will see the World Cup as an excellent opportunity to continue his legacy. Last year he broke his international trophy duck by lifting the Copa America, but he will know that nothing compares to the football spectacle of the planet.
