Premier League confirms major broadcast change that will affect Everton and Liverpool – Liverpool Echo

The Premier League is about to make a major overhaul of their broadcasting rights strategy by broadcasting every Sunday match live on TV from the start of the 2024/25 season.

According to Mail Sport, top chefs can offer 270 more matches per season than the current 200 matches per season. It would also see a wider variety of kick-off times throughout the day, ranging from 12pm to 7pm.

The move would also result in an increased number of games taking place on Friday and Monday nights.

Ultimately, this is to make a more attractive bid so that broadcasters will make higher bids during the bidding round to take control of the Premier League TV rights between 2024 and 2027.

The current deal is worth £5 billion over three years and was agreed in 2018 before being extended without another auction during the Covid-19 pandemic.

There will be one big advantage for some clubs, namely those who occupy Europa League – like Liverpool currently – or Europa Conference League places.

They would experience a big cash boost as the league should ease their participation in the continental competition by moving their next matches to Sunday. This would mean they would have two televised games in four days, taking in £1 million per league game based on current facility fee payments.

Ahead of the next TV rights cycle, usual messers Sky Sports and TNT Sport (renamed BT Sport) are expected to launch big bids, while streaming services Amazon, Apple TV and Disney+ remain interested.
