Chelsea warned Gallagher will have ‘serious takers’ this summer

Leeds United fans have had to endure a season of ‘what could have been’ as Conor Gallagher has starred for Crystal Palace since his loan spell last summer. The Whites had made the Chelsea man their main transfer target and at one point they believed they would get their man but found that he chose Patrick Vieira and Crystal Palace instead.

Chelsea, his parent club, have been warned that if they don’t make him part of their team, he will have ‘serious players’ from all over Europe. Jody Morris coached Gallagher in Chelsea’s youth teams, claiming the midfielder would be one of the frontrunners for the Young Player of the Season award and that his form for Palace ‘will have put him in the window’. He continued:

“A lot of Chelsea fans won’t like it when I say this, but when you’re Conor Gallagher and you look to your future, you think: no one is guaranteed to play at Chelsea week in, week out. Conor would like to know that the manager believes in him and is willing to give him the opportunity to show his talent in the first team.”

“And, let me tell you, there would be a lot of buyers, and I’m talking serious buyers all over Europe, who will keep an eye on his situation. He’s definitely put himself on the market.”

It is unlikely that Leeds will attempt to return for Gallagher in the summer, given how high his stock has now risen. Brenden Aaronson, in particular, shares many of the same traits and is now considered the prime target for the whites.

Man United reach ‘in principle’ agreement with ten Hag

According to the Athletic, Erik ten Hag has reached an agreement on a contract to join Manchester United as manager for next season. The Ajax manager has reportedly entered into a verbal agreement to take over at Old Trafford, but “there will be no written agreement or announcement until after Ajax against PSV Eindhoven in the cup final on April 17.”

The deal puts an end to the chances of Mauricio Pochettino returning to England to lead Manchester United after much speculation. Ten Hag has previous experience with Pep Guardiola, when he moved from the second team of Bayern Munich to Ajax.

Fernandinho announces plans to leave Manchester City

Fernandinho today announced his plans to leave Manchester City at the end of the season and return to Brazil. The midfielder was asked about future plans during a press conference ahead of the Champions League game with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, and he replied that he “wanted to play” and would return to Brazil after losing his place in the City squad to Rodri.

However, Pep Guardiola later revealed that he and the player had not discussed this and was surprised to hear that. “We’ll see what happens at the end of the season. We don’t know what will happen,” said the City manager.
