Chelsea advance to Champions League quarter-finals

Chelsea have qualified for the quarter-finals after a 2-1 victory over Lille.

Goals from Christian Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta lifted Chelsea’s total to 4-1.

Elsewhere, Juventus were knocked out by Villarreal after the visitors crushed the hosts 3-0 to see their aggregate score also end at 4-1.

Liverpool double their lead

Arsenal have been solid and arguably deserve a goal, but it is the Liverpool guests who score the first goal.

Aaron Ramsdale should have saved Diogo Jota’s shot to the post, giving Liverpool the lead in the 54th minute.

Substitute Roberto Firmino doubled Liverpool’s lead eight minutes later.

Kurt Zouma: West Ham Defender To Be Prosecuted By RSPCA Under Animal Welfare Act

The RSPCA has started the process to charge West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma under the Animal Welfare Act.

A video obtained by The Sun last month showed Zouma, 27, dropping the cat from chest height and kicking it as it lands. He then chased it across the living room, at one point throwing a pair of shoes at the cat, before punching him in the face.

Chelsea urged to remove Three logo from shirts ‘as soon as possible’

Chelsea have been urged by the British telecommunications company to remove sponsor Three’s logo from their match shirts “as soon as possible”.

Three were among a number of the club’s partners who suspended their commercial agreement after owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the British government.

But Chelsea have had to keep the company’s logo on the front of their match kit to meet the terms of the special license the club has been given by the government to continue operating.

Cubs’ Ricketts family confirms they will make joint offer with billionaire Ken Griffin to buy Chelsea

The Ricketts family, owners of the Chicago Cubs, have made an offer along with Illinois-based billionaire Ken Griffin for English Premier League club Chelsea, a Ricketts family spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday.

“As longtime operators of an iconic professional sports team, the Ricketts family and their partners understand the importance of investing for success on the field, while respecting the traditions of the club, fans and community,” the Ricketts family said in a statement. a statement. “We look forward to sharing more details about our plans in due course.”

Patrick Mooney of Athletic last week confirmed the Ricketts family’s interest in the club. The Raine Group, the commercial bank that handles Chelsea’s sales process, has a working relationship with the Ricketts family, Mooney reported. The deadline for bids on Chelsea is Friday.

Howe: I am not qualified to speak about the Saudi property of Newcastle

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has accepted that he will be asked about ownership of the club in Saudi Arabia but has said he is only qualified to talk about football.

He said on Wednesday: “Football is what I know and what I have trained for.

“Once I deviate from that into an area where I don’t feel qualified to have a huge opinion, I think I’m stepping into dangerous territory.”

Derby owes Lech Poznan 2.5 million euros…

Derby County still owes Lech Poznan around £2.5million to Kamil Jozwiak, despite the sale of the Polish winger to Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC last week. the athletic understands.

The Championship side bought Jozwiak for around €4 million (£3.4 million) in September 2020 but had paid just 25 per cent of that amount when they went into administration last September.
