Seville 1-1 Roma LIVE! Penalty Shootout – Europa League Final Result, Match Stream, Latest Updates Today – Evening Standard
Sevilla defeated AS Roma 4-1 on penalties on Wednesday to win the Europa League for a record seventh time, handing Jose Mourinho his first defeat in six European finals.
Winning goalkeeper Yassine Bounou saved penalties from Gianluca Mancini and Roger Ibanez, as Sevilla were impeccable in their execution and scored their first four. The game had ended 1-1 after extra time, which lasted longer than 130 minutes due to many game acts and injuries. There were 12 yellow cards, including for the technical staff.
Paulo Dybala gave the Italians the lead from a counter-attack in the 35th minute, but Sevilla then took control of the game and found the equalizer thanks to a Mancini own goal in the 55th minute. The win means Sevilla will be in the Champions League next season, despite finishing outside the top four of LaLiga. Replay the match below with our dedicated match blog.
