Sheffield United player claims Man City amid transfer interest from Premier League ‘big five’ – Manchester Evening News
Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodzic says his ‘dream’ is to play for Manchester City and has received transfer interest from the Premier League’s ‘big five’ teams.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina centre-back joined champion promotion winners United last summer before becoming one of the club’s standouts last season. Ahmedhodzic went on to make 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals as United secured a top-two finish.
It would certainly be easy to understand why other clubs are casting envious glances at Bramall Lane ahead of the summer transfer window after such an impressive year. And the defender has now explained exactly why he grew up supporting City – and why he hopes to one day earn a transfer to Etihad Stadium.

Speaking to Bosnian news outlet N1, Ahmedhodzic said: “When I was younger, just before [Edin] Dzeko came to Manchester City, I would say Barcelona. But now, after I started following [Manchester] City,” before adding, “When I was in school, when we had to do those professional shots. Everyone was in nice clothes and I was wearing a Manchester City shirt with Dzeko’s name on it. Everyone had a school memory in their nice clothes, and mine was in Edin Dzeko’s sweater. Some laughed, and some said it had to be.”
Despite his desire to join City, the defender has no intention of leaving his current club in the upcoming transfer window.
Ahmedhodzic added: “There is a lot of interest. I can’t reveal anything but they are big five clubs. It would be foolish to leave Sheffield United. I have been fighting all season to take the club to the Premier League . wouldn’t be wise to leave now. Everything can change.”
